This dinosaur eggshell fragment comes from Hypselosaurus, a genus of herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period. It belonged to the group of long-necked dinosaurs known as sauropods, which also includes the famous Brachiosaurus and Apatosaurus.

This eggshell fragment from Provence, France was discovered in the Grès à Reptiles Formation, a region where Hypselosaurus was one of the dominant herbivores. With limited natural predators, its primary concerns were finding ample vegetation and safe nesting grounds. Given its estimated length of up to 49 feet (15 meters) and massive body size, Hypselosaurus would have been a challenging target even for the most ambitious of predators.

Size 5 mm - 18 mm
