These ammonites are of the genus Perisphinctes, and featured tight ridges along their shells. They were unearthed in Madagascar, and date back up to 174.1 million years ago to the beginning of the Jurassic period!

These creatures filled earth's oceans for over 340 million years, until vanishing along with the dinosaurs in the mass extinction event at the end of the Cretaceous period.
